The club was successful and provided the Molokai community with 19,350 pounds of free deer meat, serviced over 282 homes, and dispatched 544 axis deer. Big mahalo to the landowners, the Molokai Humane Society, club members, Molokai community, and all our supporters.

June 2022 to March 2023 grant focuses on data collection, population management, and community education of the negative impacts of feral axis deer: public health, safety, agriculture, native environment, economic industry, culture, etc.

Molokai Hunting Club’s Geographic Information System (GIS) application data collection with ESRI includes start and finish time, number of hunter participation, tax map key location, number of ungulate animals removed, and identification of gender.

Future Goal of Grant Outcomes
Data collection of feral Axis Deer to bring to one database and be accessed by Moloka'i community so that each Ahupuaʻa and/or landowner can create their own management plan. Overall, with all the ArCGIS and game camera data collection (along with community concerns and hunter's experience) we aim to assist in developing a community-driven Deer Management Plan that will be beneficial to Moloka'i now and in the future.
