Community Engagement
Great outreach doesn't happen by magic – it takes hard work, research, and dedication. Effective outreach takes more than social skills. It requires shared understanding and empathy to communicate visions, missions and goals. Community outreach are avenues to help strengthen growth, raise social awareness on sensitive matters and concerns, and become a means of providing new, innovative, positive solutions to address a shared goal. Education is a priority for Molokai Hunting Club. We learn valuable skills through shared experiences. All meetings and community outreach activities have a component of education, to help us all be connected and united in the efforts to ʻauamo kuleana and malama ʻāina.

Molokai High School College/Career Academias
The Academy Model
We Believe:
By choosing to organize our school as an All-Academy model, we can significantly change life and economic outcomes for young people by motivating them to learn through their own interests and by exposing them to real-world, career-connected experiences and curriculum.
Three core components are embedded in the model:
-
Small learning community consists of a group of students that take classes together and are taught by a team of teachers from different disciplines.
-
A college preparatory curriculum with a career theme.
-
Partnerships with employers, the community, and local colleges, which bring resources and experiential learning.
What It Looks Like
-
An Academy’s curriculum is centered on a career theme to motivate students, connect the schools to business and community partners, and give students practical applications related to their studies.
-
Academy enrollment does not exceed 750 students so that teachers have an opportunity to give adequate attention to the needs of each student.
-
A team of teachers is selected from among the school’s faculty and an "Academy Coordinator" is chosen to lead the program and coordinate partner engagement.
-
There is contiguous space provided to create a sense of a defined community within the school.
-
Volunteer Roles for Business and Community Partners
-
To engage our Business and Community Partners in meaningful ways, we are focusing on four educational and professional development opportunities. These opportunities will be implemented by collaboration between PAI Business and Community Partners and school staff. Our goal is to support the growth and improvement of project-based instruction, applied instruction, and curriculum integration.
